Concentrations in Instrumental, Jazz, Piano, and Voice
Students pursuing the B.A. in music degree must also satisfy all requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree found elsewhere in this catalog. Major Requirements: 51 hours
(All music majors must earn a “C” or better in all music courses.) Note:
* MUS 1040 must be taken each semester in residence for a total of 8 semesters. In addition to the core requirements students must complete the requirements for a concentration.
Major Area Applied Lessons (PMUS): 14 hours
Major Area Ensemble: 8 hours
Instrumental Concentration Requirements: 17 hours
Electives: 15 hours
15 hours 3000-4000 level Music Electives
Jazz Studies Concentration Requirements: 17 hours
Piano Concentration Requirements: 17 hours
One of the following courses:
Electives: 12 hours
12 hours 3000-4000 level Music Electives
Voice Concentration Requirements: 17 hours
Electives: 15 hours
15 hours 3000-4000 level Music Electives
Supportive Requirement: 12 hours
Any combination of foreign languages (French, German, Latin) totaling 12 hours. Spanish and Japanese cannot be used to meet this requirement.
