Bachelor of Arts Degree in Modern Languages Plan of Study
Student Learning Outcomes
Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages should:
- Understand the spoken languages, particularly where context strongly supports understanding and speech is clearly audible.
- Respond to spoken questions and statements.
- Understand the written languages as used in practical daily life involving learned vocabulary.
- Write the languages as used in practical daily life involving learned vocabulary.
- Demonstrate knowledge of important aspects of contemporary cultures.

Required courses: 12 hours
select one four-course block
Electives: 24 hours in one language
Select from the following
Supportive Requirement:
6 hours of Latin or 3 hours of Latin and 3 hours of another language excluding Spanish or French
Minor Requirements: 18 or more hours
Modern Languages majors must select a minor.
Note:
At least 40 hours must be earned in courses number at the 3000-4000 level for all baccalaureate degrees.
