Prerequisite(s): Admission to Master of Arts in Teaching program
An advanced study utilizing the materials and methods for teaching the science of teaching of reading, with emphasis on theories and strategies for teaching reading, diagnosis of reading difficulties and intervention strategies for struggling readers. Additionally, the course will focus on development, assessment, and instruction for individual or small groups of students. A variety of approaches to comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and writing instruction, assessment practices and issues in reading development will be addressed.
